Challenge 4 Ideas

Hey guys!

So, not sure whether anybody else has any ideas, but I'm not really the greatest with visual stuff, so I'd prefer not to do the movie poster unless nobody else can do it.

For the movie itself, I'm thinking maybe horror/action? According to the challenge, the actors are supposed to be us, Carlos, Sherea/Tom/Rocky, and Ian.

So what if we did it something like... (and honestly this is just what I came up with in five minutes so if you hate it, I'm totally cool to do something else.)

What if... married couple Natalie and Brett are at a funeral, mourning the death of their good friend, Rocky. Rocky's lawyer Ian tells Natalie and Brett that he willed everything to them, including his house. They find some old newspaper clippings in a desk drawer, and it turns out that before he died, Rocky committed a string of robberies, and that someone had him (and his former partners Tom and Sherea) offed. It turns out that they stole something (let's say... a gold statuette) that belonged to powerful mob boss, Don Carlos Bernard, and Bernard wants it back. Natalie and Brett are attacked by assassin Monica, but are saved when policeman Joel shows up. The three of them do some digging, and find out that there was a fourth member of Rocky's gang: Stephenie LaGrossa. They deduce that she may have the statue, and set out to find her. They eventually track her down, and convince her to hand over the statue before Bernard catches up with her.

If we wanna do a twist ending, Joel could steal the statue for himself, or Monica could kill Stephenie and get the statue first, then they have to track her down, or something like that. (But I didn't want to make anybody get killed/be the villain if they didn't want to...)

I could probably work up the poster, something with the statue in the center with floating heads around it?

You don't have to use all the actors, those are just the people you can lose.

Love this idea, Monica! Sounds like a pretty intense plot, and I like that it uses all of the characters even if we didn't have to.

Just some ideas (and like Monica said, feel free to hate them):
- maybe the statuette could resemble the Immunity Idol?
- there could be some sort of showdown between Carlos and some/all of us... since it's an action flick, it needs some sort of fight scene or something!

Some possible title ideas:
- "The Twist"
- "Entrusted"
- "The Statue"
- "She is Number 4" (play on of "I am Number 4")

That's all I got, but I'll keep thinking!

And just a thought, maybe a few people could work on different movie posters so we have a choice?

I really like "Entrusted" for a title. I can also try to see whether I'll have time tomorrow to try and whip up a poster (I figure if we have a few different ones we can just pick the one we like most), but I've got a paper due on Monday, so that'll probably take up the majority of my time.

If nothing else, though, I can definitely get a good outline and stuff written up.

My idea of Twist - What if the statue was actually with the Wife and she & Rocky have an affair and they worked together behind her husband's back. And she killed Rocky to make sure the statue only belong to herself.

I don't mind being a villain. I'm tired of being a good girl lol..

i was thinking if we can choose a specific genre for it, like maybe spy, or thriller, and then choose some well known movie posters from that genre but photoshop our heads onto that poster, or use those types of posters as inspiration. I love photoshop, but I am not that great at it, but I am happy to try make some poster attempts

or maybe we could have the poster, but also some promo shots that would go on the back of a dvd release, shots like from the godfather, or goodfellas, or something

I should have it up sometime tonight or tomorrow afternoon, depending on when I finish the paper I'm working on. I really like Natalie's idea of the wife having the statue all along. That's a great twist ending. So, let's see, here's the potential outline I'm gonna work with:

Stephenie denies having any knowledge of the statue, and flees, only to be attacked by Monica. Joel and Brett arrive on the scene, but are too late to stop Monica from killing Steph. After a long battle, Joel captures and arrests Monica, and (falsely) claims to the newspapers that the police have recovered the statue from her, so that Bernard will leave Brett and Natalie alone. Everything appears to have ended happily, but Brett wakes up one morning to find that Natalie has disappeared, and it is revealed that Natalie stole the statue from Rocky, and murdered him to cover her tracks.

If anybody has any objections, please lemme know. (Especially Steph, since I'm not sure if you're okay with you dying or not...)

Also, I like Steph's idea of doing promo shots, so if anybody wants to look for those, that'd be pretty stylin'...

I'm so sorry guys. The flu I caught seriously threw off my clock.

I've probably got about 10 minutes of ability to be awake left in me at this point, but I put the last four hours or so into this, so I'll give you guys what I got.



I wasn't able to get any text composed or put any finishing details, but I got the core stuff that I thought would be interesting.
